Tamarind Seed Powder

Tamarind seed is very hard and strong and is covered with black brown husk. It is obtained after roasting of Black/ brown seed and removing its outer layer. It is white in color and its size varies in between 12mm to 16 mm. It is fruit of a large tropical tree grown in forests.
Tamarind seed husk constitutes to 35 % of total seed weight and other 65% is white kernel used in manufacturing Tamarind kernel powder.
Tamarind seed ( Tamarind indica) is found mostly in south India and South East Asia. Tree flowers in springs ( Sept to Nov). They ripen from Feb to April. The seed have pulp and outer shell. Seeds are flat and irregular rectangular in shapes. The when cleaned gives 25% Tesla and 75% Kernel. The black seed are roasted and domesticated and white kernel are handpicked or separated by color sorter.

Uses of Tamarind Seeds

Tamarind kernels are powdered and are used in the Indian textile industry as starch. this proves to be a very cost effective deal as the tamarind seed powder is 300% more efficient than corn starch and is extremely economical. The technical advantages of using kernel powder in the sizing and finishing cotton, jute and spun viscose are effectively high.
